You may not go against the tide of prepackaged treats but at least you can do it in an eco friendly way by getting a cute reusable trick or treat bag that is small enough to store for use year after year. I'm actually using mine all month for my shopping - why not? It's in season until the 31st!

I do switch around my shanpoos from time to time just to prevent build up and this is my current pick. It comes in Coconut, Passion Flower, Pineapple and Starfruit but all have been made with Coconut milk. I am also one of those people who likes the bubbles and this one lathers up nicely.

"Pump up the volume and pep up your hair. Pure Fiji Coconut Milk Shampoo is bounce-in-a-bottle as it richly lathers, hydrates, and rids your hair of dulling residue. It deep cleans your scalp to restore that healthy shine, so your hair won’t be so dull and lifeless."

Well, it's probably more of a health issue than a green issue because reheating your food in plastic is not so bueno. I live on microwaving my leftovers so I have been slowly replacing my cheap plastic disposable containers for these Pyrex ones and I love it! I feel so organized, my fridge looks very stylish inside and these containers are built to last much longer than their plastic counterparts. Pyrex is supposed to be very durable so I tested this theory accidentally when I dropped one container on my slate floor and it survived. It's also a great gift that I will be giving to both of my brothers' families this season (hopefully they are not reading this... oops).

Does it get sticky when I throw out wet things? Will it really carry my trash or will it rip? And I have to say, I was REALLY surprised. Now that I've tried it I actually don't feel so bad about throwing things in the trash can!
For years, we've searched for an alternative to polyethylene-based plastics for the kitchen, the dog waste and the yard; and we're proud to finally say that we've found an answer in Bio-Bags and Garden Bio-Film. Made from cornstarch, vegetable oil and other renewable resources, all are 100% biodegradable and compostable. The bag is tough enough to handle your household and yard needs and breaks down in about a month. For your garden, use Bio-Film between the soil and your plantings to protect from weeds and frost and to stimulate growth. Within 90 days, 95% of the film will be decomposed, adding its nutrients to the soil. Each product meets strict U.S. and international certification standards.

Never would I have thought about a train trip from New York to New Orleans. But there's a company who specialized in Sustainable Travel who has some pretty unique ideas about the environment.
My husband gave me a trip to New Orleans (that we're not taking for another several months). When I saw this ad, I filled out their form to get more information about extending our trip to include a train ride from New Orleans to New York. It travels through 12 states and takes about a day. Perfect birthday present right back at him right?
Check out the Good Travel Company by clicking on the picture above because they have lots of other really cool trips that they offer as well.
0 Comments- Add comment Written on 17-Oct-2008 by StacyNelsonI confess - I love drug store makeup so this is the hardest part for my transformation to a greener lifestyle. So I had to start small and figured that at $8.95 this lip balm wasn't a huge investment or departure from my addiction.
Now I have a whole new addiction and can't wait to try more from this company!
Their premise is aside from using natural ingredients without the chemicals, being vegan and cruelty free they also minimize their packaging efforts for a smaller imprint! It's all wrapped up in one product.
This balm plumps, firms, heals and nourishes your lips without the drying that I usually get from plumping glosses. Plus it's easy to wear alone or under some color (I put a little light gloss on if I want to look extra pouty)
Here's what's inside: Sweet Almond Oil, Beeswax, Palm Christi Oil, Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Jojoba Oil, Meadowfoam Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Avocado Butter, Vitamin E, Blood Orange Essential Oil, Rosehip Oil, Aloe Oil, Rosemary Oleoresin, DMAE, Neem Oil.
So if you're like me and want to start small, click on the picture and check out their other products as well.
