ecoProducts: Organic Home Tribal Rug

0 Comments - Add comment Written on 29-Oct-2008 by StacyNelson

There are only a handful of stores that dedicate themselves entirely to green products but if you're willing to spend the time you can find great eco-friendly products in regular stores as well. I was looking for a runner in my upstairs hallway and I figured I would look for something a little more unique. This site has thousands of beautiful rugs but I also wanted to be conscious of what I was buying. Then I found their tribal rug section. Tribal rugs are made by villagers and nomads and are named after the city or tribe. They are created with natural materials and dyes with the artists using the wool from their sheep and the dyes from local fruits, vegetables, flowers and roots.

These rugs are not cheap but their quality ir amazing. The website also have this cool feature where you can pick the type of flooring you have to see what the rug will look like in your home. Click on the picture below to see more.

ecoProducts: Organic Home Wall Decal

Wall decals at first don't seem like they would be an environmentally product, but think about the fact that you don't have to use toxic paint or wallpaper glue to turn your walls into showcases. We have one similar to this in the small downstairs bathroom and it fills out the walls with cool design and color.

ecoProducts: Organic Home Oil Drum Sculpture

I actually had to start a new page because I kept finding things for my home that were just cool. This is one example of the artistry of recycled free trade that I fell in love with. From a fair trade group Haitian artisans take clean 55-gallon oil drums and flatten them into a "canvas," draw a pattern in chalk and then hand chisel and hammer the metal into these intricate sculptures. Signed by the artist. Lacquer-finished for indoor or outdoor use. Haiti.
